Their team of dedicated chefs take the spirit of Japanese street food and elevates it to the sophisticated dining reflected within the city’s culinary scene. Tucked away in their intimate setting that effortlessly captures the essence of a beloved neighbourhood ramen bar, guests sample exquisite dishes from ramen, dumplings, noodle bowls, and traditional beverages like sake.

At Yatai Ramen Bar, tradition is blended with innovation, offering a diverse range of Japanese-inspired delights featured across their menus.

The main menu, while offering a range of popular types of ramen, has expanded to include a variety of dishes. Savour a steaming dumpling stuffed with either prawn, confit duck leg, cured pork, or marinated tofu or pick at the Kobachi small plates. Noodle bowls offer a comforting sense of nostalgia through their intricate flavours, such as the cold Tsukemen dipping noodles soaked in a hot tonkotsu broth. Traditional Japanese grilling techniques are used in creating the Robata, while desserts span from matcha tiramisu to homemade ice creams and sorbets.

Yatai Ramen Bar offers set menus showcasing their chef’s selection of three courses. Feel as if Cape Town has been transformed into Tokyo city while savouring tempura oysters, a red Roman sashimi, or Tonkotsu ramen. Or embrace the essence of Kyoto through Lobster carpaccio, Wagyu katsu sando or a rich truffle shoyu Wagyu ramen.

Winter is here, and up until the end of September, Yatai is offering a special Winter menu. For only R349 per person sharing, excluding gratuity, this five-course dining experience has been carefully crafted to showcase the flavours of Japan. From wood ear mushroom salad to yaki onigiri and pork cheek robatayaki, each dish warms the soul while satisfying the taste buds. And despite the cold, the selection of sorbets is always appreciated for a refreshing dessert.

Mondays at Yatai Ramen Bar is Ramen Rush day! Excluding the Truffle Shoyu Wagyu Ramen, all medium ramen bowls are only R99, making them perfect for a quick lunch or a filling dinner after a long day.

The Nomikai Late Night Happy Hour special is yet another one of Yatai’s unique offerings. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 10 pm until midnight, patrons can enjoy a selection of half-priced Japanese cocktails, Japanese sake carafes, beers, and wine served by the glass.
