The Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary, also known as Noah’s Park, is located on the N2 between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.

It is home to two packs of Timber wolves. These are grey wolves, the largest wild members of the dog family, and stand about 76cm tall at shoulder height.

The sanctuary was established 20 years ago for a group of rescued wolves across South Africa. It has since evolved into an awareness centre, where visitors can view and interact with wolves, wolf dogs and Huskies.

The wolves at the sanctuary have been captive bred, so they are not completely wild. However, they are still not tame and so visitors are warned not to touch the fences.

A guided Tour will take you through the wolf dog and husky enclosers. This is a unique opportunity to see and to interact with these beautiful northern hemisphere animals.

Alternatively, you may choose to walk through the sanctuary on your own. You will be guided by comprehensive boards and signs which are displayed around the enclosures.

The feeding of the wolves happens in the late afternoon where they feast on raw meat and chicken.

The Animal Touch Farm is great for kids. It is a chance to interact with a variety of farm animals – goats, sheep, chickens, donkeys, bunnies, emus, ponies and alpacas.

The sanctuary also has a charming tea garden offering light lunches and refreshments. There are picnic tables so you can bring your own picnic, and a children’s play area. A gift shop sells wolf-themed T-shirts, fluffy animal toys and other collectables for you to enjoy.
