Located in the quaint town of Pilgrim’s Rest, renowned for its rich history and charming old buildings, Pancakes at the Stables is a culinary gem.

This family-owned coffee shop specialises in pancakes made with love and using a recipe that has been passed down through generations.

With seating in a shaded cobbled area under gaily striped umbrellas and surrounded by a pretty garden, Pancakes at the Stables can host up to twenty-four guests. The service is welcoming, friendly and efficient and each customer is made to feel special.

Their delicious Miko fairtrade coffee is the winner of the 2023 Fairtrade Front Runner Awards.
The coffee shop is licensed and serves beer, cider, wine by the glass, and spirits. Milk shakes, (including Turkish Delight and Amarula), homemade ginger beer, fruit juices, floats and various other hot and cold drinks are also on the menu.

A special breakfast pancake of savoury mince and grated cheese, topped with an egg, baked beans and salad is available until 11am.

Sweet pancakes include such fillings as milk tart custard, chocolate mousse with a lavender and macadamia praline, meringue and cream with a berry compote and blue cheese with fig preserve – all served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

On the savoury side, a selection of fillings includes Peri-peri chicken livers, savoury mince with grated cheese, smoked trout with cream cheese, and succulent springbok curry. Sweet potato, tomato and spinach, with a peppadew reduction is a vegetarian option.

Each tempting pancake is light and fluffy and beautifully presented. In fact, each plate is a work of art decorated with a flower, herbs or twist of lemon.

Pancakes at the Stables has a generator so there are no interruptions during load shedding.
Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9 to 4pm and Sundays 9 to 3pm.
