Fynbos Guest Farm: delightful accommodation with nature at its heart
Situated in the idyllic ‘Valley of Abundance’, Fynbos Guest Farm is a charming and endearing place to stay. The beautiful valley is renowned for its vast variety of flowers and fauna. Tortoises, grysbok, mongoose, steenbok and many wild birds populate the farm area.
The 57-hectare guest farm is located in the Witzenberg Valley, an area well-known for its heritage, country lifestyle, majestic mountains, Cape Dutch architecture and scenic beauty. Cape Town is a mere 90-minute drive, while one of the closer towns, Tulbagh, is 15 minutes away.
Fynbos Guest Farm is a working farm and the owners, Peter and Maurice, have committed themselves to restoring and maintaining the natural ecology of the area.
Peter and Maurice recommend that their guests enjoy the menagerie of animals on the farm- zebra, ostriches, springbok, llamas, alpacas, horses and sheep. For the adventurous, the guest farm also offers two wonderful walking trails and a magical labyrinth in the pine forest.
Apart from all the animals and wonderful nature on offer, the guest farm also has two small plunge pools, a meditation room and a large aviary filled with indigenous and exotic birds.
The guest farm offers three self-catering cottages and two farmhouse rooms. The Francolin Cottage accommodates four guests; the Guinea Fowl Cottage, two guests, and the Owl Cottage, three.
All the self-catering cottages have air-conditioning, an indoor fireplace and outdoor braai facilities. Linen and towels are provided.
The farmhouse rooms can accommodate two guests and both have en-suite bathrooms. There is also a camping and caravan site for families or groups, who would like to camp on the farm.
A tantalising Continental Breakfast can be ordered from the farmhouse and will be brought to your cottage, room or caravan. For dinner, you can enjoy a braai under a spectacular star-filled night sky. Alternatively, you can dine at any of the wonderful restaurants nearby.
Families and children are well-entertained with the option of a playground area, the opportunity to help feed the animals and brush the horses. There are still many activities available close to the guest farm, such as horse-riding, ziplining, wine tasting, museums, craft shops and magical waterfall hiking.
Whether you’re looking for a leisurely break, enjoying long walks in pristine nature, or rather a fun-packed holiday with the family, Fynbos Guest Farm has something to offer families, individuals, couples and groups alike.
